I used different colored peppers and didn't measure the ingredients exactly and I idea it was great! I used brownish rice, extra garlic, and cooked it for a total of 1.v hours. Great flavour, I will be making again!!!
03/09/2014
This is a swell recipe. I used ground turkey and italian turkey sausage instead of beef. The turkey is lower in fatty which offsets the addtional cheese that I add.

Made these last night for dinner changed a few things. I let the rice simmer in beef broth, sautƩed the onions, garlic added carrots and celery with Montreal spice.I as well sautƩ the beef prior to stuffing the peppers. Mixed everything together adding grated cheese and breadcrumbs. The stuffing was amazing! Stuff peppers and broil in oven at 350 for 45 min. Also found a zucchini in the fridge. Very delicious!!!! A must attempt very piece of cake and quick

Although I made a few small-scale changes I must say that these are the best ever!! I didn't have chunky tomato sauce so just used canned chopped tomatoes and added tomato sauce to get the right amount. I used shredded pepper jack instead of parmesean. Biggest change was to employ my Dutch oven instead of wasting parchment paper and foil. Even so followed the temperature and fourth dimension and they came out perfect! Thanks!!

Our favorite stuffed pepper recipe! We only needed 3 medium sized peppers for our family, and then I adjusted to 1 lb. of beef and 1 loving cup of rice. Still only used one-half the stuffing mix. I made 4 big meat assurance with the remaining, boiled them in beef broth, then tuckered and put in the fridge. I besides saved remaining pan drippings. 2 days later, I skimmed fat off the pan drippings, poured information technology over the meatballs, and heated in covered dish in the oven. Served on egg noodles (tossed with butter & basil after cooking). Yummy again. Will add a little pork sausage adjacent time, every bit suggested.
02/06/2014
The whole family really enjoyed this one.add a few alterations though. I did not put the tops back on and replaced 1 lb of the hamburger with a lb of hot breakfast sausage. I also put mozzarella and parmesan cheese in the stuffing mix. Then I sprinkled pepperjack cheese on top during the last 10 min in the oven.

Update: I have fabricated this soooo many times at present. My family loves it, and I generally make this, due to the color variations, for Christmas Eve every year. I wish I could find a way to thicken the sauce, but it's simply the style it goes; expect a brothier sauce with some fat from the beef. All the same, this my go-to and merely stuffed pepper recipe. Thanks again, years after. / Had leftover jasmine rice and take been wanting to make stuffed peppers for a while. I never used a recipe before for blimp peppers, but this is going in the volume. I love everything about it. I scaled to 4 servings, and for the "mesomorphic tomato sauce", combined 8oz. can of tomato plant sauce and a fifteen oz. can of drained, diced tomatoes. Besides used ground sirloin, and blood-red peppers. Followed the directions. Easy to put together and baked it for 90 minutes. All I can say is delicious!!! Have passed on the recipe to my siblings earlier even finishing my dinner. Thanks!

It may just exist a difference in preference, but these weren't our favorite stuffed bong peppers. Stuffing with raw meat and baking yielded drier meat that was sort of caked together, rather than the crumbly, saucy peppers that we were hoping for. Season was pretty good, although I might use 1/2 of the garlic this recipe calls for if I were to make information technology again.
11/03/2014
I made this today for lunch and it was a BIG hit. I actually assembled it yesterday afternoon and refrigerated it overnight. I made it as written except for slightly less salt. It was excellent! In the by I have made these where you blanch the peppers first and dark-brown the basis beef. I thought this was then much easier, even though it does take longer in the oven. The garlic and parmesan cheese gave the dish a wonderful flavor. I'm looking forrad to making with half sausage, half ground beefiness next time. The only affair was that I had to melt information technology longer than the recipe states. My peppers were large and I have a gas oven which e'er tends to have longer. I even bumped the temperature upwardly a scrap for the first one-half 60 minutes, but it still took but shy of two hours. Thank you for the recipe!
02/xi/2014
This is undoubtedly the best pepper recipe I've always eaten. I added a little Italian sausage to the burger and also some herbes de provence to both the sauce and the meat. Wonderful!
01/23/2015
I make blimp bell peppers all the time, but I have never thought to flatten the bottoms or poke holes so the juiced drain. So smart! I am also going to try putting the peppers on a raised cooking sheet and then the peppers don't swim in juice the whole time. I highly recommend putting aluminum foil downwards besides to help with cleanup. These tasty buggers make a mess.
11/eighteen/2014
OMG. Absolutely loved this recipe. Best stuffed pepper'southward I've ever treated my mouth to. Next time, I've going to try and layer the meat/rice mixture with either Ricotta or Cottage cheese(whichever I have, will drain cottage cheese). This recipe really is astonishing, though it did accept a bit longer than I imagined to do the prep work. Well worth information technology though. I used footing turkey to make mine.
04/22/2014
This is and then skillful!!!!! I used Hot Italian Turkey Sausage (remove the castings) instead of ground beef, and used chicken broth instead of beef goop. Admittedly fabulous!!!!!
07/24/2014
This was succulent! I used meatloaf mix (pork, beefiness, veal) instead of ground beef and regular non chunky tomato sauce. I also found that we liked it much amend with carmine, yellow, orange peppers vs. the greenish!
11/xv/2016
I mostly used this recipe as a guide so, as I usually do, doctored it up accordingly. Instead of hamburger, I used Italian sausage. I precooked everything so bake fourth dimension was quicker. I apply marinara, chop up the tops and add them to the mix and, because the mix is already hot, bake time is just about 45 min.
01/05/2016
Great basic recipe! I fabricated it acc to Chef john'due south instructions and they came out perfectly! I used 1lb ground beef and one/2lb sweet Italian sausage. To the meat I added extra garlic, shredded carrots, herbs de provence, and a little sauteed onion forth with Chef John's ingredients. I finished off some jarred spaghetti sauce and also used crushed tomatoes. As suggested past another reviewer, I cooked brown rice in the beef stock with a bay foliage and a clove of garlic. When adding the meat mixture to the peppers, I added a little of the tomato sauce half style, then more than meat, then topped with more sauce and the lids. I will line the blistering sheet with foil adjacent time. My entire family loved it! Thanks, Chef John!!
11/14/2015
I have to confess, I don't similar peppers! But, I ate two of these! I used beef and venison, brown rice and a can of burn roasted tomatoes and a small tin can of tomato sauce and dried parsley since I didn't have fresh. Otherwise I tried to follow the recipe pretty exactly. Information technology was very proficient and was done in an hour and a half. I will be making this once more, just not in a 9x13 pan...it's just besides big. I'm going to use a taller casserole dish next time. I had virtually a cup and a half of meat mixture left over and made six little meatloafs in a muffin pan with that. It's very, very good!
09/08/2016
actually great recipe. I used ground sirloin and italian sausage. I was out of worcestchire sauce so i used teriyaki sauce in its place. I also used ii numberless of Steam Fresh Birdseye Southwestern way rice (microwaveable) which saved some time. I used two bags to cut down on the meat and plus we beloved rice. This was a neat recipe that i topped off with a slice of provolone under the broiler for a few minutes ( to brown). This was easier to prepare than my usual recipe.
08/08/2019
This recipe reminded me so much of my momma'southward stuffed bong peppers when I was growing up! I dearest how flavorful Chef John made it with the added reddish flakes! Perfect! I did notice that the video says 1/2 cup of beef broth but the recipe says 1 cup. I think 1/2 cup should be used in guild to take a little thicker sauce! Honestly, this is a must try recipe because information technology is spot on! Love this and thanks Chef John!!
03/31/2016
This is a very uncomplicated all in ane meal to set up and easy cleanup. The sauce, although quite basic, had a nice flavor and went well with the peppers. The filling was practically a meatball in consistency afterwards baking which I liked, but my wife said she would prefer more rice and less meat. I wanted to follow equally written so didn't read others' tips and overall this makes a dainty dinner, especially with hot sauce. Next fourth dimension I will likely add together some boosted seasoning and possible employ yellow rice to raise things a bit. Keep helpin me look good Chef John!
09/10/2016
Made this terminal nighttime and it was delicious! I did use green peppers instead of cherry-red and I switched out the rice and used Farro in its identify. Next fourth dimension I'll also add more onion since we all love the gustatory modality.. Likewise, since I went a little over on the quantity of meat, I rolled the remaining meat mixture into tiny meatballs and put them in the sauce in between the stuffed peppers.
09/27/2015
Came out peachy, even my two twelvemonth old was eating the peppers! I just used a pound of ground turkey, and I added all the reserve tomato sauce to the meat mixture. After stuffing, I used the sauce from the pan to garnish the tops. And I used curly parsley, it was amazing. I did follow the recommendation to put a cookie canvas under the dish. I think this helped keep them moist, and the bells slightly crisp. I used orange bells.
04/01/2015
Had lots of left over rice and so added it to browned up basis beefiness, onion, jalapeno and our seasoning preferences. I cutting our peppers lengthwise ( personal) and broiled with some seasoned diced lycopersicon esculentum, about 45 min. Very nice, easy dish. Would love to try with Italian sausage.
02/15/2016
I microwaved the peppers for about 7 to 10 min, in order to soften them, also precooked the sauce on stove. I was running late on time, yeah I'll melt this again.
04/27/2019
I always loved my mom's stuffed peppers growing upward which was basically meatloaf, stuffed in raw green peppers. When I got older and looked upward the recipe, I saw it had rice, the meat was sauteed and peppers blanched start. I simply went back to my Mom'due south mode. Just this recipe is my Mom's on steroids. I added 1 egg and a little breadstuff crumbs to the meat mixture and used Italian diced tomatoes along with the tomato sauce. It was succulent! The sauce is and so skilful; helps keep everything moist. He's right, the cookie canvas makes information technology take longer but found it cooked evenly. I like the suggested fashion to cut the peppers and using the lid. You lot tin become alot more meat in there. I made 4 and heaped them loftier like an ice cream cone. This will now be my go to recipe.
07/27/2016
I used red bell peppers, Italian sausage instead of ground beefiness and quinoa in stead of rice (diabetic household) and used very little table salt.. Used mozerella cheese cause that'due south what Ihad on hand. I fabricated 3 for me and 3 for my husband who likes a more spicy flavor. In his I added Mrs. Dash Extra Spicy Seasoning and a pinch of habanero. They were delicious and we volition definitely make them again. My married man who is a Picky Eater and was quite hesitant about trying this, loved his. They re-warm up very well in the microwave.
08/10/2014
Offset time having stuffed peppers. Used this recipe. Turned out awesome. I loved the heat from pepper flakes. Used Rinaldi spag sauce instead of evidently tomato sauce. Will definitely make again.
08/26/2016
The rice was mush considering it was already cooked, the bell peppers were nearly raw.
05/05/2014
Yum! Keen 2d stage food for infant!
03/22/2015
I made this recipe and substituted turkey instead of beef and it was a major hit! Even my meat and spud hubby tried some of the bell pepper. That says a ton!
08/01/2014
Very skillful, great utilize of left over rice with not much burger. Economical and yummy!
07/12/2016
Was in a compression for fourth dimension, so wanted to cook everything first. Hither were my changes: -Just sliced the tops off 5 peppers (no other messing with them), and roasted them 15 min @ 425 past themselves right on the oven rack (needed double this or increased estrus) -Cooked the one/2 finely cut onion and tbsp garlic in a pan, added half to the sauce at the bottom of the baking dish, left one-half in the pan. -Added sugariness italian flavored footing chicken to the pan, added ~ 1T of it. seasoning and cooked until washed. I followed the rest of the recipe & these turned out fabulously. Adjacent time I'll use a little more than sauce in the meat mixture, which is how my mom used to make them. My husband and I both said "continue!" to this recipe. I'll make these once more!
05/13/2015
Made with i/2 ground beefiness and 1/2 sweet Italian sausage. Stuffed in green peppers. Succulent - Thanks Chef John
02/26/2017
Peachy dish, simply takes much longer to cook. Nosotros now cook the ground beef most 50% prior to placing in peppers, as you lot yet need enough time to soften the peppers.
11/04/2016
I precooked the meat. That felt safer. I love the Italian flair. Next time I will do half Italian sausage. I likewise added shredded cheese to the acme after the spoons full of tomato sauce. I think it needs more sauce in the peppers.
03/23/2020
I make it a different way and less time consuming. I take out the cadre and all the seeds...then I boil the bell peppers 10 min ...while boiling I brown the ground beef onions with tomatoes sauce of your liking and too seasonings of your liking....I like the knorrs rice 7 minutes then I mix in with the footing beef...I then ready bell peppers on a cookie canvas I put shredded Mexican cheese on bottom then fill with stuffing and sprinkle and repeat with Mexican cheese on peak put in oven for 350 degrees or fill cheese is melted....normally only takes about nigh 5 to 7 minutes and voila washed!!! My fiance...picky kids and friends hard workers dear this recipe.never failed...please relish
01/26/2016
I used i cup mozzeralla and 1/2 parmesan. I also substituted the parsley for oregano, thyme, and basil. I used chicken broth instead of beef broth because...well...oops. I added in spinach and mushrooms. I used Prego iii cheese tomato sauce.
08/04/2015
Loved this recipe! Brought back memories of Mom making blimp peppers when we had an abundance of bong peppers in the garden. I made this recipe gluten-free and dairy free because of food allergies in the family. Wonderful and like shooting fish in a barrel to brand. Next time I brand rice, I will make enough actress to have a caput offset on this recipe.

01/23/2019
I'grand in the procedure of making this now but in the video you say to apply 1/2 a loving cup of broth but the recipe says 1 loving cup. You said put 2 1/two cups of lycopersicon esculentum sauce in the pan just so nosotros need more to put on top of the peppers and the aforementioned with the parsley. I'chiliad just a little confused just hopefully it turns out good...
03/08/2019
I sprinkled mozzarella cheese over each one , yummy!!!!!!!!! These are perfect stuffed bell peppers!!!
03/xix/2017

06/22/2020

WAS led to believe they are of GERMAN origin? The friend is Jerry Younger from the Far-Mar-Co Visitor. The Western Kansas community is Hays Kansas on I-seventy!
02/17/2020
I've made this keeping to the exact ingredients and it's a winner. However, this night I made it again but noticed I didn't have plenty footing beef so, I took some cooked pork chorizo I had in the freezer to brand up for the footing beef. Information technology was five stars earlier...simply with the chorizo it'due south half-dozen stars.

08/22/2018
It was delicious. The just change I made was that I stuffed hatch peppers instead of bell peppers. They're in season for such a brusk time that this was a slap-up way of enjoying this excellent delicacy.
04/21/2021
This is a recipe to hang onto! And so I took the advice of some other commenter and I boiled the bell peppers while I browned the meat. I let my oven preheat at 375 and cooked ane pound of burger and a half pound of turkey sausage with olive oil, garlic, a can of mushrooms ,and part of a couple green onion. While I permit the grease bleed off to the same pot I added a can of diced tomatoes, a can of tomato sauce, garlic from a jar, and the residue of the greenish onions. I seasoned with dried tyme, parsley, chili flakes, crushed bay leaves, and pepper. I added the meat back to the sauce along with my jasmine rice (rice cooker is a life saver). As you can meet I used a Dutch oven (and posted three times because I didn't know what I was doing) there was no need for me to cutting the bottoms considering they all fit in the bottom nicely and could've fit a seventh. I used cooking spray on the bottom and so assembled, mozzarella, filling, mozzarella, top of peppers. There was filling left over I just piled information technology into the centre and covered it with cheese too. After I let the whole thing cook for 10 minutes I baked the height and so the cheese got brown. Then much fun to make and very very tasty.
01/31/2019

07/24/2016
Double batch for lunches and freezing. Very good simply 2nd batch turned out better. Additional parsmesan and a little mozzarella equally well as diced tomatoes instead of love apple sauce. My new favorite stuffed pepper recipe. Also added quite a bit more garlic. Personal taste. Excellent. Much easier than par-humid peppers like my old recipe called for. The parsley was a different twist too.
05/01/2016
I used red peppers, wild rice, 1 tin can Italian style diced tomatoes &i can Italian tomato paste (instead of the mesomorphic tomato paste), and vegan meat, delicious!
03/14/2017
I made this terminal night for dinner. Hubby and I really enjoyed it, we switched the serving size down to 4 so there would be leftovers to take to lunch. Really glad we did that. Just thing I would change is the corporeality of sauce, I would prefer there to be more sauce and thicker.
01/10/2017
I think this is 1 of the best Beefiness and Rice Blimp Pepper recipes I've ever made. The beef is very flavorful and the sauce is delicious. I used 1 pound ground beef and 1 pound balmy pork sausage. I used both sweet red and green peppers that were quite large.
08/09/2017
My go-to recipe for stuffed peppers! I used to make them a certain way for 10 years, but this is the manner I brand them from at present on. I absolutely beloved the onion and love apple sauce these peppers melt in. It is and so good spooned over the peppers, and a lot of times I have leftover sauce that I can re-use in other recipes, or enjoy in a bloody mary. This is a archetype, unproblematic, comforting dish that anybody will love. I can't look for Fall/Winter to roll in so I can start using my oven again!!
04/26/2018

It reminds me of my grandmothers so thought I would try it. :) I changed a few things, I had just made homemade salsa (pico) and so I used this along with 1 cup of canned lycopersicon esculentum sauce. I did non use the parsley but had cilantro in the salsa. Actually liked this and will do it again.

My daughter and friend loved it! Absolutely delicious!
08/24/2020
I accept made this so many times over the years, for guests and merely for united states. I always utilise some grade of marinara, either bootleg or if I am lazy, jarred. Yesterday I used a jar of Mid'due south Marinara. I ever piece a whole sweet onion and use red and yellow peppers. I had bought a new chunk of parm merely ended up using the remnants of some leftover parm, cheddar, and a little cojack from the refrigerator that we had shredded over the past week for other meals and it was smashing. I can't imagine e'er going back to the sometime mode of making stuffed peppers. I dearest Chef John.
04/26/2019

04/20/2019
I seasoned the meat to sense of taste but overall not bad recipe! Besides, I used different colored peppers
ten/31/2016
Made it essentially by the given recipe but took a few shortcuts: used dried onionbits in the sauce and the same lycopersicon esculentum sauce in the meat as in the pan- non a chunky one. Of course I had to sprinkle more than grated cheese on superlative towards the end. Everyone loved it from the i yr sometime to the 70 yr old! Will be making this again.
02/02/2022
I added Italian sausage, minced garlic, beefiness base and substituted tomato paste for tomato sauce in my mix. I likewise added onion soup mix and cutting the table salt intake to ane/2 tsp. And used spaghetti sauce for my pan base. It was then adept!

x/02/2020

x/27/2020
Dandy stuffed peppers I inverse to blood-red peppers because I do not like green
09/09/2021
Delicious! I used ground turkey and veggie bouillon instead of beef broth. The pan sauce with crushed cerise peppers is spicy, so I wiped it off the outside of the bell pepper before giving it to my 1-year-old. She loved it!
10/29/2017
This was a skilful recipe but I didn't have the right stuff....I had Minute Chocolate-brown Rice that I didn't cook...I didn't brownish the ground chuck, I cut the onions very small and didn't soften them....cooked the dish hour covered and a half 60 minutes uncovered....I too added a can of Italian tomatoes i/ii in making meat and rice stuffing and half with the tomato sauce, I only had a viii ounce can.information technology turned out great and was moist and rice was done very flavorful...Cheers, Happy Cooking!
04/02/2019

First time making stuffed bong peppers I wish I tin upload my picture information technology was pretty good I think if I would have allow the bong peppers cook a piffling fleck more longer information technology wouldn't be so hard but yet soft and some places the ingredient was definitely piece of cake to make with the hamburger seasoning and melt rice and onions I'll definitely endeavour it a different way only overall it was okay.
12/09/2016
But made this, very good. Keeper recipe, will make again. I did equally some other person did, used ane can of diced tomatoes and a can of tomato sauce. Did bake for 2 hours though. I used red and orangish peppers, just like the flavor of those peppers better.

04/10/2017
I followed all the instructions but I felt the peppers were not as juicy as I expected them to exist, the meat was more than of a hard brawl in the middle. The taste of the filling was good. I will try them again but this time i think i will cook the beef separately.
